Popular streaming devices include Amazon Fire TV Sticks, and the Fire TV OS operating system is often included with TVs. An essential feature has been hidden in a recent update from Amazon, but you can restore it.
The Android Debug Bridge (ADB) and sideloading program settings are located in the Fire TV OS’s Developer Options menu, which may be accessed from the Settings app. For installing apps that are not offered by the Amazon Appstore or even for installing third-party app stores like F-Droid, both of those features are crucial.
According to AFTVNews, Amazon is releasing an update to some models that by default conceals the Developer Options menu, which was previously always available in the Settings. Fortunately, it’s not completely gone; you just need to go to Settings > My Fire TV > About and keep clicking the device name until you see a window saying “You are now a developer.” The Developer Options menu then appears as usual.
The new method requires a few extra steps, but it is more similar to how Developer Options are handled by standard Android and Android TV/Google TV devices. The menu contains a lot of settings that can ruin apps or other intended functions, therefore it’s generally best to keep it hidden from users who could unintentionally hit a few buttons.
