In the workplace, giving your employer two weeks’ notice is considered official notice. It is given before you intend to quit your position.
This notice is being sent to your employer to advise them that you will be leaving the company on a certain date. A traditional courtesy, and in certain cases, a requirement to formally depart, this letter is considered necessary.

The Essentials of Writing a Two-Week Letter
When considering resigning your job for any reason, you must compose a letter of resignation explaining the facts of your absence.
To properly quit your job, you’ll need a letter that has all of the necessary details. This includes your personal information such as your name and address, as well as the firm’s name, address, and addressee. Don’t forget to date your letter!
At first, there is no need to be flowery or artistic; simply state the position from which you are retiring and the effective date. While you’ve presumably informed your supervisor of your upcoming departure, you don’t need to go into depth here—keep it simple.
Note of Appreciation
Following that, express gratitude to your employer for the opportunity and list some of the most significant things you’ve learned and enjoyed on the job.
This is true even if you are overjoyed to be going. Bear in mind that you may use these individuals as references in the future, and concluding on a positive note will leave a favorable impression.
You should have a few words prepared in advance to express your appreciation for the opportunity to work for your company. If your manager has the resources, he or she may seek to offer you a raise or other perks in order to retain your services if you were an exceptional and well-liked employee.
You should understand precisely what they can offer you in exchange for your continued cooperation or whether you wish to engage in counter-offering at all. If you choose to remain, you should anticipate an uncomfortable relationship in the future.
You can deny a counter-offer respectfully by stating something along the lines of, “Thank you for the offer.” While I respect my time at this organization, I believe that the next opportunity will provide me with the finest future opportunities.”
The Shift of Authority
Finally, communicate your willingness to assist with the transition. You don’t need to go into great depth (and certainly don’t make any promises you can’t keep), but a few lines emphasizing that you’ll ensure your obligations are performed easily will demonstrate your commitment to the finish.
