- After all the drivers have been updated, restart your computer to make changes into effect.
Fix 4: Check Your Game Files
The game crash problems can be triggered by incorrect game files. To resolve this issue, you need to check the game files. Here’s how to do it:
1. For Uplay
- In the app, navigate to the Games tab and move your mouse cursor to the Division 2 game tile. Then click on the bottom right triangle in the lower right corner of the game tile.
- Click Verify files.
2. Steam
- In Steam, navigate to the LIBRARY tab and right-click on Division 2. And then select Properties.
- Go to the Local Files tab, and then click Verify Integrity Game Cache. After that, click Close.
3. Epic Game Launcher
- In Epic Game Launcher, navigate to your library.
- On the right-hand corner of Division 2, click on the cog icon.
- Click on Verify to start verifying the game files.

Fix 5: Run Windows Compatibility Troubleshooter
Program Compatibility Troubleshooter is a built-in tool for Windows OS that allows you to test programs for your current Windows OS. Game crash problems often occur when certain program settings are not compatible with the current Windows OS.
If you are running the latest version of Windows 10 with DirectX12 installed, then this should not be the issue. If you have a previous version, you can try this solution
1. Go to the directory where the game is installed. Generally, the default directory is
C:\Program Files (x86) \Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\games\Tom Clancy’s The Division 2.
2. Right-click on the TheDivision.exe file and select Properties.
3. Go to the Compatibility tab and click Change high DPI settings.
4. After that, Check the box next to Override high DPI scaling behavior and select Run Scaling performed by Application. Click OK to save the changes.
5. Also, Disable Full-screen optimizations by clicking the box next to it and clicking OK.
Make sure you have Steam Overlay and Ubisoft Overlay disabled.
Run Division 2 to see if this solution works. If not, try the next solution to edit your page file.
Fix 6: Resize Paging File Size
If the game crashes due to insufficient RAM, you can apply this solution to find out if it works. Before editing the paging file, you should check if the Division 2 crash problem is triggered due to insufficient RAM.
If the source of the event is called a “resource-exclusion-detector“, you can follow these steps to edit the paging files:
1. On your keyboard, press the Windows logo key and R at the same time to open the Run dialog, then type control and press Enter to open the Control Panel.
2. In the search box, type Advanced and then click Advanced System Settings in the list of search results.
3. Click Settings in the Performance section.
4. Under the Advanced tab, click Change in the Virtual Memory section.
5. Select the box next to Automatically control paging file size for all drives. Click OK to save the changes.
6. Do not disable the paging file or upgrade it to 0 MB or static value even if your PC has enough RAM, as it usually causes game crashes.
Launch Division 2 to see if this issue is resolved. If not, try the following solution below.
Fix 7: Lower Game Graphics Settings
You can also try lowering the graphics settings in the game to see if it can fix the game crash issue. Here’s how to do it:
- Click on the cog icon to open the game settings. Then go to Graphics – Shadow Quality and set it to low.
- Set the spot shadows to low.
- 3Toggle contact shadows to off.
- Set the particle details to High.
- Set the reflection quality to low.
- Click Vegetation quality to medium.
- Turn off the local reflection Quality.
- Set ambient Occlusion to medium/low.
- Click the object detail value to 50.
- Set landscape quality to medium or low.
Then save all changes.
Start the game to see if the Division 2 Freezing problem appears again. If not, congratulations! You have solved this problem.
