2022 saw the release of several indie and blockbuster games. However, it was generally a quiet year for the gaming world, especially compared to 2018 and 2019. This was partly due to recurrent delays caused by the lingering impacts of the pandemic, even as developers tried to adjust to the evolving workspace. But while 2022 might have been a little low-key, it did set the stage for 2023, which is already looking promising. Here are five upcoming titles to amp up your excitement in the coming months.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage
Release Date: June 30, 2023
Indie and AAA game developers have announced multiple sequels to popular titles. One such release is Assassin’s Creed Mirage, the action-adventure game and the next installment in the Assassin’s Creed franchise. Mirage marks a turn from the open-world RPG format of previous installments. In this version, players will take on the role of a young Basim – the newest Hidden One’s member who is seeking answers. Mirage comes on the heels of the highly successful 2020 installation Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, which in addition to exciting gameplay, featured several popular side activities. Its gambling dice mini-game, Orlog, was so popular, in fact, that it got a dedicated board game. Meanwhile, the world of poker gaming is anticipating similarly exciting sequels. GG poker, a reputable Tight Poker gaming site, has announced the 2023 follow up to its premier high rollers tournament, Super Million$. The year-long competition, which has been dubbed “the biggest poker competition ever,” will host its first ever live match on March 1

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor
Release Date: April 28, 2023
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, the much-anticipated sequel, takes place five years after its predecessor. In it, Cal Kestis continues his journey through the now hostile galaxy that is trying to come to grips with the aftermath of Order 66. The order commanded the death of all Jedi warriors, and Cal must try to survive. While not much has been revealed about the story, gamers have several new features to look forward to in this installation. This includes the crossguard lightsaber, the blaster + lightsaber combo, and several new Force powers. There may also be a possible Mantis Crew scattering on the horizon.
Dead Island 2
Release Date: April 21, 2023
Dead Island 2 fell victim to delay after delay in 2022 – so much so that gamers almost gave up on the release. Fortunately, a Twitter announcement following the trailer release at Gamescom 2022 confirmed that this sequel would be out this April. Having been in development for about 10 years, it seems like Dead Island 2 was worth the weight. The game takes place in Hell-A, an open-world Los Angeles, during a zombie outbreak quarantine. So far, the developers have revealed four playable characters, each with unique abilities – Dani, Ryan, Amy, and Jacob.
